Who Makes Allen + Roth Products?

Allen + Roth does not have a factory, a design team, or a quality department, because it is not a company. It is a trademark Lowe’s owns and licenses onto products from suppliers who also build for other retailers.

You can see this in the paperwork. The cabinetry warranty is written by American Woodmark. Laminate flooring is warranted by Clarion Laminates. Quartz is warranted by Sage Surfaces or by Dal-Tile depending on who fabricated it. Closet kits come from Whalen Furniture. Those are four unrelated companies with four different quality cultures, all wearing the same badge.

So the quality of your Allen + Roth vanity tells you very little about the quality of your Allen + Roth blinds. That is not a criticism of the brand. It is just what a house brand is.

There is also no single Lowe’s warranty covering the brand. Each category has its own warranty, written by the manufacturer, and some of them are short.

Allen + Roth Complaints

Patio furniture and cushions. This is the category with the sharpest complaints, and they come from more than one direction. One owner reported paying around five hundred dollars for cushions that lasted a single four-month season. A contractor who assembles this furniture for a living described it as ill-fitting, said it was nowhere near the advertised easy assembly, and reckoned it needed hammers and bar clamps to bring together. That is a specific, mechanical complaint rather than a vague one.

Quartz countertops. A thread asking about Allen + Roth quartz quality drew no defenders at all, which is unusual. The recurring point was that Lowe’s contracts the work out and the supplier may have changed over the years, so two slabs bought years apart are not necessarily the same product.

Quality over time. Owners often say the quality has declined. There is no published evidence either way, so treat it as opinion rather than fact.

Are Allen + Roth Blinds and Cabinets Good?

Blinds are genuinely contested, not written off. Critics say the faux wood bows after a year in direct sun. But defenders are just as specific, and one made the value argument plainly: there is not enough difference between Allen + Roth and Levolor to justify the price gap, and you will get ten years out of them. Worth noting that Allen + Roth blinds carry a limited lifetime warranty, which is a real commitment.

Cabinets draw milder criticism than the brand’s reputation suggests. The top Allen + Roth tier uses plywood boxes, which is competitive construction. An independent kitchen designer’s criticism is narrower and more useful than a blanket dismissal: in a painted finish the value case weakens, because you have to upgrade to the top level to match rival brands on construction, and by then it costs more than they do. Their read is that the painted finish is not as nice as most others.

Allen + Roth Recalls

Two CPSC recalls name Allen + Roth products, and both are worth knowing about.

• December 2020. About 48,000 Allen + Roth 62-inch infrared quartz electric fireplaces were recalled by L G Sourcing, a Lowe’s subsidiary, because wiring connectors could overheat. There had been 28 reports of overheating, fire or smoke, several causing smoke damage, and one involving smoke inhalation.
• October 2024. About 3,300 lighted dimmable LED bathroom mirrors were recalled by Homewerks Worldwide because the glass could detach from its wall base and fall. Lowe’s had 44 reports of glass detaching. No injuries were reported.

Set against the size of the catalogue, two recalls is not an alarming record. If you own the fireplace, though, the model to check is the FEBO Flame ZHS-30-A, sold under Lowe’s item number 466656.

Allen + Roth Replacement Parts and Warranty Support

Across complaint sites, forums and owner reports, the criticism that recurs most is not build quality. It is support after the sale. Parts for discontinued products become hard to find, and some warranties are short and fiddly to claim.

This is not bad luck, it is how the model works. A house brand can retire a product line while thousands of them are still installed in people’s homes, and there is no independent manufacturer with a reputation to protect who keeps making the spares. Lowe’s publishes no commitment to stock parts for any period after discontinuation.

This is the thing to weigh before buying. Not whether the product is well made today, but whether you will care in six years when a piece of it breaks. For a set of blinds, probably not. There is no single brand-wide score for Allen + Roth that means very much, because each category comes from a different supplier. A star average on one faucet line does not carry over to the patio furniture.

The supplier behind most Allen + Roth categories is not public. Lowe’s does not disclose it, and the suppliers are not consistent over time.

Should You Buy Allen + Roth?

Reasonably, yes, in the categories where the evidence supports it and where a long parts tail does not matter to you. Blinds are a sound value case. Cabinets are worth a look if you are not set on a painted finish. Faucets carry the strongest warranty in the range, lifetime against leaks and drips for the original owner.

Be more careful with patio furniture, where the criticism is most consistent and most specific, and go in with your eyes open on anything you expect to still be maintaining in a decade.
